Today The Human Torch Died

Today the Human Torch died and so did Marvel’s courtesy for their fans. Yesterday the internet and news outlets flooded with the news that today the Human Torch would die. Of course they didn’t say how or why, just that after fifty odd years the characters life would be over. The problem here is the fact that readers of Fantastic Four that have been following Jonathan Hickman and Dale Eaglesham’s run on the series for over a year now… didn’t know that. They weren’t supposed to find until today when the comic is actually released.

My Top 20 Villains Of All Time – Part One

For every hero in the multiple comic book universes, there have always been villains. I believe some villains can be totally amazing whereas others, not so much. I have decided to make my own list. This is Part One of my countdown to the greatest villain of all time. I am going to span multiple companies and their respective characters. I am going to try and avoid using the many villains of a singular hero, so I will not do a massive chunk of one rogues gallery of say… Batman.

Villains Due For A Return

In comics, villains seem to nearly always return to terrorize people in whatever way that they see fit. Some of these law breaking criminals disappear into the shadow and never return, some because they were not popular, others because, well their purpose had finished, others still were once in the spotlight only to then be gone. This is a list of villains I believe should return to their respective comics to once again wreak havoc upon the nations.

His name is Two-Legged Rat. A mask wearing sniper whom harassed Speedball. He also really, really hated cats. So much so he used to shoot the poor little defenceless balls of fur, and he does it just for the attention. He was even a part of a Speedball Revenge Squad. Once again defeated and thrown into prison. I think he should come back as he is a funny character in a slightly disturbing way, and could really be developed as a mentally unstable character.

You Missed That Issue! – Haunt #2

Hey readers, this is another addition to the “You Missed That Issue!”. For those who may not know, this type of feature is dedicated to showing you what we believe are the new “classics” that have arisen in the past decade. There is a hitch however, as the comics we talk about are ones we believe were overlooked. We will talk about everything that happens in the comic trying to convince you why it is a “modern classic”, but it will be full of spoilers. So spoiler alert from now on guys.

Quick mention of what’s happened; Daniel Kilgore is a troubled priest whose brother (Kurt) has been killed (turns out he was a secret agent). Daniel can see and speak to the ghost of his brother and when two men are sent to kill Kurt’s wife Daniel combines with Kurt’s ghost to create Haunt, who later kills the assassins. Now this is only a second issue of the new series by Robert Kirkman and co-creator Todd McFarlane, with art by Ryan Ottley (Invincible), but I believe it is one that truly kicked off the series. Another issue that is a great example of mixing action (or violence) with drama.

Iron Man’s Greatest Villains Plus Norman Osborn

Iron Man has had a lot of villains over the years. While most readers (and non-readers) think that Tony’s greatest enemy is himself, Stark and Iron Man have had numerous villains. While not as famous as Spider-Man’s Green Goblin or as legendary as the Fantastic Four’s Doctor Doom, Iron Man and Tony Stark have a small but excellent rogues gallery. This is also celebrating Invincible Iron Man #500, which is the anniversary issue and also the reason why this feature is posted!

Spawn 200 Celebration – A Night At Golden Apple

Yesterday Spawn turned 200. A feat that has only been managed by Cerebus to my knowledge, but now Spawn has joined the ranks of an independently produced book reaching issue 200. To celebrate Spawn creator and Image Co-Founder Todd McFarlane had a signing party at Golden Apple Comics in Hollywood. I was invited to join the press party before the signing where none other than Stan “The Man” Lee was in attendance.

I didn’t really go to meet Todd or congratulate him, no I went to check out the event and see what it was all about. Frankly it was a very cool experience getting to see Stan Lee, who didn’t stay too long. There were a few surprise visits the biggest and being Jim Lee who stopped by to show support for his friend as he reached his landmark issue.
