DC Character Affinity: Superboy-Prime

Antihero is a protagonist of a drama, or narrative, who is notably lacking in heroic qualities. With lack of positive qualities such as: courage, physical prowess, fortitude and generally feel helpless in a world over which they have no control. All these qualities normally belonging to villains, misunderstood villains like Superboy-Prime. As one of the many alternate Supermans, Prime resides on an Earth known as Earth Prime. Where DC only characters exists as fictional characters and nothing more. While Kal-El Prime was still a toddler, his scientist father made a grave discovery. Jor-El Prime learned that a massive solar flare from Krypton’s red sun threatened to engulf their home world, ultimately destroying it. In a New England seacoast town, Jerry and Naomi Kent were hiking through the forests when they discovered the abandoned toddler. They decided to adopt him and raise him as their own. Naomi chose to name him Clark, despite the fact that Clark Kent was the name of a popular comic book hero known as Superman. Unlike his namesake however, Clark Kent grew up without the benefit of super-powers.

Heroes are here to the very end; they will lay their life on the line for a better tomorrow that’s what makes them hero’s right? They make all the hard choices and usually get nothing in return, but why do they sometimes give in to the circumstances? Creator Affinity – Garth Ennis

Well known for his religious satire and violent works, Garth Ennis is a man that worked his way up for some time before becoming a strong household name. He would mostly be known for Preacher and his seven year run on Marvel’s Punisher MAX series.

Ennis began his comic writing career at the young age of 19 (so don’t procrastinate people!) with his series Troubled Souls. It gained a sequel known as For A Few Troubles More. From here he moved on to Judge Dredd, taking over from the original creator. With top selling stories such as Muzak Killer, Emerald Isle and the twenty parter Judgement Day.

Creator Affinity – Greg Pak

Hello
kiddies! Welcome to Creator Affinity, a new segment where we highlight a
creator, his/her books and what is liked about their creations. Today, I will
talk about Greg Pak.  Ah, yes! Greg Pak,
one of my favorites.  When I think of
this dude, the first book that comes to mind is World War Hulk.  Who would have thought that this New York
Writer/Director could give us such great stories and give a major character
boost to some of oldest and sometimes minor characters in Marvel.

Creator Affinity – Jonathan Hickman

Five years ago if you had said the name Jonathan Hickman most people would have scratched their head and wonder who you were talking about. In 2006, Hickman broke into the comic scene with an Image title “The Nightly News” a comic about a terrorist cell made up of Americans fighting against the media as a whole. The art and design was heavily influenced by graphic design and print ads which resulted in a comic book like nothing else scene at the time. Hickman put so much on the page that you literally had to sit and absorb all the information he was giving you. If this had been any other writer it would have been forgettable and annoying, but something about the intricate design made it beyond interesting.

10. Klarion and Batgirl: This isn’t really too much of a relationship since these two have only been in one issue together (Batgirl #18). They may not appear together again, but I think they made the cutest couple in this issue – even if they don’t think so!

My Top 20 Villains of All Time – Part Four

Okay guys, here it is: my top 5 villains
of all time. It has been extremely difficult choosing the right
villains to compress into such a short list. Honestly there are
already some positions I would like to change and others I wish I
could completely swap out for another character, but I was not going
to do a list bigger than this.

5.  He is gigantic and purple.
He is known as The Devourer of Worlds. He is Galactus, and he first
came to light in Fantastic Four #48. When he comes to earth, he
is a threat to the entire population and many heroes have to band
together to hold him off. He has returned many more times for
different reasons, mainly to destroy earth. His vast and immense
powers also make him pretty awesome. What adds to this character is
that it can be argued if he truly is a villain, as he only eats
planets so that he can survive. It is the depth of this character
that makes him an appealing villain to read.

Harley and Joker – A Good Couple?

Love is in the air, and this is the week of hugs and kisses. Even if Valentine’s Day was on Monday, don’t you love it when we dish out some awesome features of love? In this lovely feature I will dig deep into the loveable/hate relationship between the Joker and Harley Quinn! They’ve dated for years in comic book continuity, but since Gotham City Sirens, Harley has left her boyfriend. Are you glad or sad that Joker and Harley aren’t together anymore?

The Joker is one of the most insane villains known in comic book continuity. From boiling babies and making the parents eat the remains to shooting people in the waste, Joker is crazier than most people. The relationship between Harley and Joker didn’t start in the comics, but on television! Harley Quinn had first appeared on TV in Paul Dini’s Batman: The Animated Series. From there she appeared in numerous episodes with the Joker. The relationship was continually abused and for some demented love, Harley continued to stay with the Joker. While the question of how Harley Quinn has survived for so long, even in comic books, it still seems odd on how Joker bent Harley to his will.

10. He started off as one of the great heroes of the galaxy, only to actually have been turning since he had ever started. First appearing in Green Lantern #7, his name is Thaal Sinestro. After being exiled, he created a Yellow Power Ring and wreaked havoc on Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps. He then eventually formed his own Sinestro Corps and almost completely decimated the Green Lantern Corps. Using fear as his weapon this guy is awesome.
