Director Robert Rodriguez will be reteaming with producer Alexander Rodnyansky to make a sequel to the 2010 exploitation revival flick, Machete. The sequel, titled Machete Kills, is expected to begin production in April.
Marking the first time that two films debuted to over $20 million on Super Bowl weekend, found-footage superpower flick Chronicle narrowly took first, with Daniel Radcliffe’s first post-“Potter” horror film The Woman in Black close behind.

After years of postponement and a recent shutdown due to budgetary concerns, Universal has sent out a press release to announce the third film in the “Riddick” series, entitled Riddick, is set to begin production immediately.
It would be easy to watch the film and chastise it for lack of originality or being a slave to the cliches of ghost stories. For the less jaded, “Woman” is an entertaining, often atmospheric love letter to horror films like The Haunting or The Others.
With found-footage movies cleaning up at the box office over quite an extended period of time now, it seems inevitable that they’d move past their horror roots and into other genres. Chronicle is the found-footage superhero movie, and it’s one of the most unique movie-going experiences in years.
