From the school of Judd Apatow, Player Affinity’s Recommendation of the Week is surprise comedy hitBridesmaids, which pleased audiences the world over. It is now set to be a hit on DVD and Blu-ray, offering film fans deleted and extend scenes, behind the scenes documentaries and commentaries.
This year’s run of high-profile film festivals has ended, and unfortunately, we learned little from it. There was The Artist, a black-and-white Silent Era throwback, but we picked up on that at Cannes. Now a contender that stayed away from the fests is trying to enter the ring.
The Lionsgate action film The Expendables was a huge success thanks to its ensemble cast of Sylvester Stallone and other action icons. For The Expendables 2, even more iconic action stars like Jean-Claude Van Damme have joined the fray, but apparently the studio wants some young blood on the set.
Netflix’s announced change in pricing structure, which takes effect this month (for me on Wednesday in fact), charges significantly extra to retain both its flagship DVD-by-mail service along with Watch Instantly streaming service. Now, the company will sepearte its mail service from streaming and rebrand it Qwikster.
Another four movies down and only one a winner. This weekend the re-release of The Lion King (in 3D) proved a great success for Disney earning $29.3 million with families and nostalgic 20-somethings.
Now that The Lion King has come out again in 3-D – surprisingly, the technology actually fits well with the already beautiful world of an already perfect film – here are other films from the Disney vault that might benefit from some 3-D magic.
Both Gordon-Levitt and Shannon are extremely talented actors who can take roles and run with them – or, in the case of Premium Rush, ride with them. Gordon-Levitt leads the film as a bicyclist hired for quick transport; Shannon embodies the villain trying to get in his way.
