Mark Leung: Revenge of The Bitch Review

Mark Leung: Revenge of the Bitch is an indie turn based RPG made by and featuring Mark Leung, the creator and star of the College Saga web series. The story follows Mark Leung, a communist and ginseng collector as he is caught in a war between two fanatical religions fighting over the creatively inspired world of Untitled. Thankfully one element of traditional turn based role playing games that Mark Leung has managed to recreate is the length which is easily comparable to a Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy game. The story is a mishmash of generic fantasy and quirky internet humor which steals from everything from Star Wars to World of Warcraft.

Dragon Age 2 Review

I started up Dragon Age 2 with a lot of excitement,
considering I was a fan of the original. The plot was unique, although
simplistic at times, but the gameplay, character advancement and interesting
NPCs brought it all together to make a pretty good game. I was hoping that
Dragon Age 2 would take that game, improve on places where it was weak (few), wow
us with exciting set pieces and present a gripping story that kept us on the
edge of our seat. Instead, what we get is a complete reimagining of the series,
with the gameplay radically changed for the worse, graphics that seem almost
equal to the original and a story that is incredibly mediocre with some small jumps
in interest that make you wish they had stopped when they were ahead with
Awakenings.

Crazy Machines 2 PC Review

I have always been a huge puzzle game fan, and a fan of quirky titles. The now-defunct Incredible Machineseries was my go-to for crazy puzzle games with sandbox-style gameplay. With this in mind, I may be a little skewed towards automatically liking a game such as Crazy Machines 2. Despite this, I have never played the original Crazy Machines or its pseudo-sequel 1.5, and I do feel that the genre has a lot of things that can be done wrong. Luckily, Crazy Machines 2 doesn’t hit too far from the mark, although I will not say it’s a perfect experience.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn Of War II: Retribution Review

Ten years have passed and the war still rages in subsector
Aurelia. Emerging from the their brief victory against the greater daemon
Ulkair, the battered members of the Blood Ravens that survived were declared
renegade by the corrupted Chaptermaster Azariah Kyras. As the ragtag army
fights the multiple forces that have invaded the subsector for their own
reasons, they seek to find Kyras and stop him before he ascends into a greater
daemon himself. As always in the Dawn of
War
series, the sheer awesome magnitude of the Warhammer 40k setting serves to inspire endless combat with Exterminatus-flavored
cojones. Relic Entertainment’s latest stand-alone entry in the popular series, Retribution, adds many new features to
the engine used in Chaos Rising and
strives to improve where it may have fallen short. One interesting switch is
that Relic has ceased using Games For Windows as the multiplayer support platform,
instead choosing Steam as a replacement. This removes the issues that people
often had with the slower system and also allows Steam members to join games
from outside the game itself.

Bulletstorm PC Review

Back in the 90s, when first person shooters were starting to get more popular, games had a lot of personality and over the top mannerisms not found in today’s shooters, arguably for better or worse. Over the years, though, the first person shooter audience has become fascinated with more realistic, and relatively subdued shooter experiences. As a result, the fact that Bulletstorm, an over the top, stylistic and profane first person shooter, even exists at this point is something of a miracle. Now that Bulletstorm is out on shelves and in digital storefronts, the question has to be asked; is this throwback any good? The answer, happily, is yes. Bulletstorm is fantastic. A very fun game that could even attract some of the most hardcore Call of Duty players, if they were just looking for great shooting mechanics. The problem is, is that Bulletstorm doesn’t have much value for your $60.

Dragon Age: Origins Retro Review

With Dragon Age 2 just around the corner, it’s important to review what we know about its predecessor, Dragon Age: Origins, itself a critically-acclaimed dark fantasy epic that followed the growth of the player’s character to save the land of Ferelden from an impending evil that threatened to overwhelm all life. Since its release, Dragon Age has seen a succession of downloadable content that added side-plots to the existing quest, as well as a full-fledged expansion that takes place after the invading darkspawn army had been broken and scattered. While it uses darkspawn as a generic evil force that has yet to be fully explained or described, the races that inhabit Ferelden and the surrounding lands have unique and lush lore that is often different from the more common tropes surrounding fantasy settings.

Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening Retro Review

BioWare’s Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening was the only true expansion pack that built an entirely new adventure set six months after the events of Dragon Age: Origins. With the land more or less saved from utter destruction, it falls to the Grey Warden to visit Amaranthine, a northeastern section of Ferelden that was previously the property of Arl Howe, who is now dead at your hand. As a result, these lands are now yours, and so the player must ensure that any remnants of the darkspawn threat have been dealt with. However, there is another wave coming and it becomes the player’s responsibility to fortify defenses, explore new dungeons and encounter new villains that seek to overwhelm the already-battered strongholds. Although the expansion does give us a look at what happened to the Grey Warden after the defeat of the Archdemon, it is evident that the Grey Warden’s story is complete already and events cease to follow him/her as far as Dragon Age 2 is concerned.

Cities in Motion Review

The simulation genre is a bit of an odd one.
The genre is most well known for games like The Sims, SimCity, and as well as the more niche titles like RailWorks and Farm SimulatorCities in Motion (CIM), the newest simulation game, features a transport management simulator. Developed by Colossal Order and published by Paradox Interactive, CIM has you taking control of transport systems of various famous European cities (such as Amsterdam and Berlin) and managing them from the 1920’s to the present day, all in the name of profit.

Dungeons – PC Review

Dungeons is a new dungeon management simulation game from
developer Realmforge Studios, which puts a small spin on the tried-and-true
Dungeon Keeper rhetoric. Instead of having to care for a large portion of
minions while trying to keep heroes out of your hair, you are instead expected
to entertain the heroes in question, luring them into your dungeon, getting
them fat and happy with soul energy, the game’s main currency, and then
striking them down or imprisoning them to drain that energy out of them. This
is an entertaining twist on a good idea, and it is helped by some other good ideas.
Unfortunately, there are a few bugs and odd design decisions that hinder an
otherwise excellent game.

Magicka – PC Review

Imagine if you were in a mystical world, a world of magic, sorcery, monsters, kings, knights, not vampires, and… an M60 machine gun? Magicka is a quirky homage to both Diablo styled RPGs as well as numerous internet memes, jokes, and references, all piled into a fun little walkabout.
