Primetime Emmy’s Enter Gen-Y

Last night’s 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Fallon, thrust the sextogenarian aged program to the forefront of the new generation. It was clear that one of the aim’s of this year’s awards was to try and make it more personable, technology integrated, and filled with “Glee”.

Epic Fall

The Fall season for TV is like Christmas for Christians. It’s a time of year when people not usually interested in television get excited about the upcoming season premieres whilst wearing silly jumpers and exchanging gifts around a tree. Yeah… so not exactly like Christmas, but I still argue with my family a lot and a fat man puts his had in my stockings, so the analogy stands.

Top 5 Best Episodes of LOST

OK, so now that we have gotten the rotten eggs out of the way, we can focus on the good. LOST captivated, infuriated, and mystified fans through 121 episodes and six seasons. Making a list of the top 25 episodes would be a daunting task, so 5 is almost impossible. Like always this is a personal list, but I tried to take into account the opinions of the massive LOST fandom. While you may not agree with the list I welcome comments and discussion. Here we go…

Top 5 Worst Episodes of Lost

Lost was an amazing television show and we could spend days talking about the best moments. However, in a show with about 121 episodes there are bound to be some that clearly are not up to the quality of the rest. Some bad apples, if you will. Once again, this is a personal list, but I tried to take into account the beliefs of LOST fans. While you may not agree on the list, I think we can all agree that LOST continues to be on our minds and even with these bad episodes we wouldn’t trade that time for anything. A quick note; I am using only one Kate episode, I could easily make the whole list nothing but Kate episodes if I’m not careful. And don’t worry, I’m not a pessimist the top five best is coming soon. So let’s get started:

Lost: The Mystery Continues? – Top 5 Unanswered Questions

Lost may have finished, but will it ever truly be over? After the series finale The End, message boards and podcast are still trying to decipher what happened. As controversial as the finale was on wide variety of issues, some questions and the answers we seek are still elusive.

TV Show Awards: Jay Malone Edition

I’ve been watching a ton of television lately and I’ve realized there has been a multitude of great shows this past year and I thought to myself “Why not hand out some Jay Malone Player Affinity awards?” You may ask “Well, is this awards thing actually… a thing?” Well it is sir/ma’am… Yes it most certainly is. Below are the shows in contention for awards and of course the awards themselves. There are a few shows in there that are still in the middle of their debut season, so I based their performance on the episodes that have been broadcast so far. The awards are for shows that aired from 2009 through mid-2010.

Get It Watched! – Misfits

Get It Watched! highlights some of the unsung heroes of the small screen; the lesser known programs that people often overlook. I’ll be looking at shows not just from the US but also from the UK, Canada, Australia and other English speaking countries and each edition will feature a different recommendation and rundown of what you are missing.  Please, please recommend your own picks for shows you feel are the orphan children of broadcasting, because I am only one guy (albeit one with stunning good looks and incredible intellectual insight).

Damages: Save or Sayonara?

A woman emerges from an elevator with blood painted across her skin.  Her hair is disheveled and her body quivers and shakes uncontrollably.  She’s wearing a coat and is naked underneath it.  She runs through the streets, passing pedestrians and cars along the way until she’s finally stopped by the police.  It’s clear there’s an interesting story here, and as this woman says, “Get me a lawyer,” we know that we’re in for a bumpy ride.  However, the action suddenly shifts six months earlier as we begin to learn how exactly this curious set of events came to occur.  That was the beauty of “Damages,” a legal drama on FX that was recently canceled after its third season finale.  The show mixed the future and the past, flashing to the past so that there would be a contrast between what happened six months ago and what was happening now.  The show was infamous for pulling the wool over the audience’s eyes, and even during the season finale, the writers wouldn’t completely reveal what their true intents were for certain characters and plot points.

Gone but Not Forgotten

Below is a list of some of the best shows that were killed off in their prime, or cancelled before they had a chance to get there. Yeah, we will miss 24 and Lost, but this is a memorial to the TV programmes that were axed prematurely, a proverbial candle in the wind for those fallen heroes (no pun intended).

Summer TV Show Roundup

So you’re looking for a little entertainment from TV this summer?  Well it’s your lucky day.  It seems that more and more summer is becoming a time for the cable broadcasters to bring out some of the best series, while the commercial networks try out some experiments.  Let’s look at some of those summer shows you might enjoy. HBO is going to have a treat for us coming Sunday June 13th.  It’s the third season of True Blood and I’m sure we won’t be disappointed.  Look for things to be really turned upside down with some new characters like Werewolves and some new additional Vampire characters.   Sookie will be spending time looking for Bill… of course, Eric is there to help and supply her with some assistance.  Also on paid TV, look for continuing episodes of Weeds and Dexter on Showtime.
