Mass Effect 2 on PS3, is the 360 in trouble?

The news of Mass Effect 2 arriving on PS3 is somewhat expected since EA bought Bioware, but it’s still a bit of a surprise, since the Mass Effect series has been a staple in the Xbox 360’s lineup. With that staple now gone, does Microsoft have a chink in its armor? They sure do. Overall, the PS3 has lost many more exclusives than the 360, but this is a huge blow to the 360’s library. This would be the equivalent of those pesky Metal Gear Solid 4 going to 360 rumors being true. Really, this is worse, since Mass Effect was synonymous with the Xbox 360, while MGS has been on the Gameboy, Xbox, and GameCube. Of course, Mass Effect has been on the PC, but it has always seemed like the 360’s baby… the same goes for Gears of War.

Mafia II (X360) Preview

This demo is awesome… Mafia II looks and plays awesomely, but the game ends abruptly like– How gross… there’s a spider defeating its mate through the act of eating and… oh come on! The penguin is back and he’s stealing my fish, what an asshole… oh hi! I’m Tristan Wong, back with another exciting look at another game that recently came out with a demo—I know, how exciting is that? I mean, the screenshots look great… but when you actually touch and play the game, scrumtrelasint… oh wait, I forgot to say what game it was. I’ll let you all figure it out on your own, as for now here’s the latest scoop and thoughts on this demo, available to you now! Note to all who touch the game, this isn’t an official level of the game, this is just a level built specifically for the demo. So when I go through this look, I’ll only be talking about what I saw and what I played… nothing about story, etc.

What’re You Doing This Weekend? 8/13/2010

Surprisingly, I’m going to be playing more Bully this weekend. But for more on that, check out my Respawn article. Apart from Bully, I’ve got Madden. And Madden. That’s about it. I may throw in a few hours of Civilization IV but I’m not sure yet. Mainly ready to dig further into Madden’s Franchise mode.

Top 3 Underrated Xbox 360 Games

Great games are released monthly and occasionally, our picky little eyes miss it and someone else’s will spot it. In this week’s top list, Xbox Team members Nate Butch, Tristan Wong, and myself discuss our top 3 most underrated games on the Xbox 360.

Deadly Premonition is the butt of all jokes and for good reason; it has many bad things about it. But a lot of those “bad things” are incredibly charming in their own way. The combat is straight up abysmal, but apart from that, I can’t think of anything that made me furious, it all had a unique charm unmatched by any game I’ve played. The story is very “Twin Peaks” but along the way, it takes quite a bit of twists and turns. I will proudly say I enjoyed the story of Deadly Premonition. It’s a silly, silly story though at times it’ll blend just enough seriousness into it to make you actually care about what happens to the characters. And at the end of the game, I couldn’t help but think I had just witnessed one of the strongest endings of a game, story-wise, this year.

Respawn: Bully Scholarship Edition

Hello and welcome to Player Affinity’s new Video Game feature, Respawn, where we will take a game released around two years ago, and give it a short write up. Describing how well it holds up, deliver it a short review, and finally say if we recommend playing through it again or not.

It doesn’t really matter your age, gender, or race; we’ve all been picked on at one time or another. Bully is a game that puts you in “that guy’s” position. That guy, the guy you always wanted to be, being kind to the Nerds, kicking the Jocks’ asses, getting all the ladies, and managing to egg a few cars along the way. The entire actual concept of Bully is an excellent one, but it’s the execution that isn’t always the most impressive thing.
