The Newsroom star Jeff Daniels revived hopes for a sequel to Dumb and Dumber while fielding questions for the HBO series. Although still making sure to mention the hand currently feeding him whenever possible, Daniels revealed that the on-again, off-again sequel Dumb and Dumber To would hopefully start shooting next year.
After playing a dictator who despises human rights earlier this summer, Sacha Baron Cohen could be diving into the world of spy parody for his next film. Paramount, who has a first-look deal with the comic actor, has just bought a “James Bond” spoof pitch from Cohen and writer Phil Johnston (Cedar Rapids).
It is the attack of the ’80s with Full Metal Jacket, Clue, Adventures in Babysitting and Spaceball all being rereleased on Blu-ray. The Lorax and the critically acclaimed Marley are major highlights of the week.
Despite the arrival of another big-budget blockbuster in the form of Total Recall, it was once again The Dark Knight Rises that claimed the top spot in its third week.
The clock is ticking on 20th Century Fox’s reboot plans for Daredevil. If the film doesn’t enter production by Oct. 10, the character’s rights will revert back to Marvel. But while fans of Marvel Studios’ superhero films are licking their chops at the possibility of Matt Murdock being back where he belongs, the studio has a slightly more interesting strategy than watching Fox scramble.
After finding history-making success with The Hurt Locker in 2008, Kathryn Bigelow returns to the Middle East with Zero Dark Thirty, her true-to-facts procedural about the mission that led to the successful assassination of Osama bin Laden in 2011.
