Obsidian Unveils Cyborg Dog and Other Fallout Companions

The Fallout series is known for its stories, and cast of characters, including the companions who join the Player of your quest.  Bethesda’s spectacular epicFallout 3 had a great selection of people, robots and creatures who would join you as you wandered the wasteland, including the obligatory Fallout Dog; Dogmeat. Yesterday Obsidian Entertainment, the developer of Fallout New Vegas announced the people/ things who will join you on your trip to New Vegas. Depending on the choices you make in the game (Alignment and such) you’ll be accompanied by various humans, a Ghoul, a female Super Mutant, an upgraded Eye Bot, and- best of all- a cyborg dog who is 209 years old (That’s 1,463 in dog years)

PC Digital Download Sales 9/12/10

Week 3 of the Digital Download Sales is here, and Civilization V is still selling very, very well. Steam and Direct2Drive both show a lot of love for Sid Meier this week, but as usual, Steam has a better deal, so the sales for Civilization are not surprising on Steam.

Forever Has Arrived

Way back in 1991 Apogee Software released a crappy side-scrolling shooter called Duke Nukem which was set in the distant future of 1997 (HA!) By the time the real year 1997 rolled around, Duke had become a franchise of mediocre shooting games which managed to stay in the public eye because of the quaint controversy over the fact that the game had some levels set in strip joints.  Yet that glorious future of 1997 held the promise of one more Duke game:  Duke Nukem Forever.  Now, after thirteen years in development, Forever Has Arrived!

Fallout New Vegas Promotional Comic Free on iTunes

If you are anything at all like us here at Player Affinity, you are already excited about Fallout New Vegas.  The game is over a month away, but the hype machine is starting to build up steam.  Among the promotional goodies for the game is a hardcover graphic novel written by Chris Avellone, one of New Vegas’ designers.  “All Roads” by Dark Horse Comics, which is only available if you order the Collector’s Edition of New Vegas.  However, folks who own and iPhone/Pad can have a look at 12 pages of it right now by downloading a free app at itunes.

No plans for the weekend and no money either?  How about buying some cheap games with this week’s crop of weekend sales?  Steampowered.com is showing off their patriotism by selling everything in the WWII franchise Company of Heroes for 75% off.  The original game is now just two dollars and fifty cents, with the Complete Pack of three games at $12.50.  After a few weeks of crappy discounts, direct2drive.com has finally put together some decent sales.  Every day throughout September they’re putting two games on sale with savings of about 75%. Not content with just a daily sale, direct2drive is also celebrating their sixth birthday.  Each week for the next four weeks they’ll have a handful of games marked down to six dollars.  This week it has several Star Wars games and the Penumbra collection among others.

Steam doesn’t have an official Midweek Madness Sale this week, but what it does have is a crazy amount of percentages off for some less popular games. If you likeRailworks, they’ve got a 50% off deal for you, bringing it down $35. The price of the DLC for it has also been chopped in half, which is good for all Railworks fans. The very few amount of you out there. Riven and realMyst are both 17% off for $5 instead of $6. RUSE Demo Deceptively Enjoyable

Had enough of Starcraft II yet?  If you are, or were never into Blizzard’s style of strategy, there’s a new RTS game just on the horizon. RUSE is a WWII strategy game by French developer Eugen Systems. It is set in various theaters of war during World War II, and lets you command the armies of assorted Axis and Allied nations, including the French.  You can insert your own France WWII joke here:
