Tom Cruise gets significantly smaller payday for MI:4

Tom Cruise won’t be receiving anywhere near the $90 million that he picked up from the original Mission: Impossible. Sources say that he won’t even be getting “scale” (the set minimum payment determined by the Screen Actors Guild) for the film. In fact, according to Vulture, it will be “a substantially reduced upfront payment relative to his previous outings with the M:I films.”

Adam McKay’s latest partnership with Will Ferrell centers around Allen Gamble (Will Ferrell) a forensic accountant overjoyed at completing paperwork for muscle cops Highsmith (Samuel L. Jackson) and Danson (Dwane Johnson). Terry Hoitz (Mark Wahlberg) spends his days playing solitaire on his police computer due to being demoted to desk duty for a shooting incident. Gamble stumbles upon a crime that takes the buddy cops on an adventure they aren’t ready to handle.

Rodriguez in Talks for “Deadpool”

Surprising absolutely nobody, Robert Rodriguez (Sin City, Predators), who denied a month ago any involvement in the upcoming Deadpool film is now rumored to be in talks to direct the Merc with the Mouth’s solo film debut. While he’s not signed on (yet), the L.A. Times is receiving word that 20th Century Fox (the company currently holding control over the “X-Men” film franchise and it’s subsequent spin-offs) and Rodriguez are doing far more than just talking; likely hammering out key contract terms for each side.

Robin Wright joins Fincher’s “Dragon Tattoo”

David Fincher’s American remake of the Swedish novel-turned-film The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo just picked up a female star in the form of Robin Wright. However, the actress won’t be playing the heroine Lisbeth Salander. According to Deadline, she will portray Millenium magazine publisher Erika Berger, who is also the sometimes lover of Mikael Blomkvist, Daniel Craig’s character.

Walt Disney Studios has acquired the film rights to the upcoming graphic novel OblivionTRON: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski created the illustrated novel written by Arvid Nelson and illustrated by Andrée Wallin. Kosinski will also direct the film.
