Borderlands 2 (PS3) Review

Borderlands 2 improves on what the first game lacked and adds more. From the Badass Ranking system to the new classes and guns, the game spews out plenty of content for players to enjoy over and over again. It does not hurt that you have four to choose from when deciding how you will take on the evil Handsome Jack. The dialogue and voice acting in the sequel is superb and does not get old while replaying the game, even if it is your third time (assuming each class’s storyline is explored). Borderlands 2 brings to the playing field what many games have forgotten or will not even touch, which makes the love and praise surrounding the game genuine.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (PS3) Review

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is officially available on all platforms, and for the first time that includes consoles. The game includes four modes: Arms Race, Demolition, Classic Casual, and Classic Competitive. The two newest modes are Arms Race and Demolition, which include two new maps and six new maps respectively. For veterans enjoying Global Offensive on consoles, the game may seem less innovative and precise compared to the PC/Mac. New players in the franchise will find the Elo matchmaking system to be beneficial, as it matches you with similarly skilled players, which will reduce frustrations if matched with a group of experienced players.

Papo & Yo (PS3) Review

Created by Canadian studio Minority and published by Sony Computer Entertainment, Papo & Yo is a fantasy adventure platformer now available on the PlayStation Network. Different from other games in its genre, Papo & Yo takes you on a journey through the mind of Quico, a lost boy, and his friend Monster. Simple puzzles and minimal dialogue, the environments and story told are unique in its own right–sometimes making you stop to admire the beauty that Minority placed in the game amidst the fears of alcoholism and abuse. Papo & Yo has its flaws, but makes up for it with a compelling message.
