Will Limbo’s Success Shape the Future of XBLA?

Limbo was the break out hit of this year’s Summer of Arcade, no one can argue against that. Limbo’s near universal acclaim and of coursePlayer Affinity’s rave review by our own Jay Malone cements it as one of the best titles in Xbox Live Arcade’s arsenal.

TGS: New Dead Rising 2 XBLA Game Announced

Dead Rising 2: Case Zero was released recently and was met with mostly rave reviews. I for one loved it. At the Tokyo Game Show Capcom announced a follow-up type thing entitled “Dead Rising 2: Case West.” While this title may not be so well named, it’s more Dead Rising, and that seems fine to me.

No Reach For You!

Halo Reach has been out a few days now, and a few interesting facts have come out. One of the biggest being for those who own the less expensive 4 gb Xbox 360 Slim. It seems that Owners of the system and Halo Reach are finding that they can not play online co-op with their 250 gb Slim and original Xbox 360 owning friends. For those unfortunate enough to own both you will be greeted to a message that states “one or more of the players do not hace a hard drive which is required for this playlist.”

Kinect Sports Gets New Modes

Kinect. It’s happening. It will feature such innovative and never been done before games such as “Kinect Sports.” And at PAX West, Microsoft announced two new modes for their completely originally title, Boxing and Party Play. Again, original.

The more interesting (my false sense of interest couldn’t be displayed through pressing keys so I’ll just say baaaaaah to signify my extreme interest) of the two modes, Party Play, will apparently be a “tournament-style multiplayer mode that will let your characters dress up like aliens and carrots and stuff.” (Thanks to Destructoid editor Nick Chester for that quote) I’m assuming Party Play will just be their mode that you play when you’re at a party… and you want to play Kinect with friends. Why in God’s name would you want to do that?

Can You Hear Me Now?

Have you ever been playing on Xbox Live, and had to listen to people’s crackly rapping during Call of Duty? Well soon it’ll be a little less crackly. Xbox Live’s audio chat has always been a bit weak. It’s a fact that Microsoft has come to see as something that should be improved, and have already set it in motion. When Xbox Live receives it’s update for the Xbox Kinect this fall Microsoft will be upgrading the codec used for voice chat to something a bit more bandwidth intensive. This not saying much since the current codec uses only 64kb of your connection when you talk.
